WAYO Babies Proms – August 12 & 13 – Perth College Judith Cottier Theatre

  • Dale Pointon will be conducting, and Peter Moore will be the MC.
  • We don’t require the full orchestra for each performance day, as there isn’t usually enough room onstage for the whole orchestra. There will be a rostering system in place. Please check the online orchestra lists for which day you are rostered on to perform. If you are listed as a reserve for that day, you are not required to attend the venue on the day, but if someone is sick, you may be called upon to replace them.
  • ALL PLAYERS that are performing or are reserves for Babies Proms please attend the rehearsal on 5 August – UWA Callaway Auditorium 9 -12pm. This is the ONLY rehearsal for Babies Proms. Please make sure you have practiced your music beforehand. There are a few new tricky pieces in there for some fun.
  • Performing players rostered onto Saturday 12 August must also attend the morning rehearsal (reserve players are not required for this). Please arrive at Perth College by 8:15am.
  • Percussion will use the instruments at Perth College. Please arrive on Saturday 12 August at 7:45am to set up.
  • Both days of performances will finish by 12:20pm. Please be picked up promptly after the final concert.
  • Music is available online.
  • Leaders of each section please prepare a 10 second demo on your instrument. Try to have a different song for each instrument. It’s always best to make these nursery rhymes or songs that little kids will know. Row row row your boat, Mary had a little lamb, Twinkle Twinkle, Teddy bears picnic, Galumph Frog Song (reserved for double bass), Main theme from popular shows (Frozen/Star Wars/The Simpsons/Sesame Street/Play School/Postman Pat/Thomas the Tank). Don’t do your fancy solo from your obscure concerto or favourite symphony as none of the kids will know this and it’ll be real awkward…. :/
  • Tickets are selling fast and the two 10am shows have already sold out.
  • Access to backstage at the theatre is on Lawley Cresent. You will see a big barn door and to the left is a glass door which you can enter through. Once through the glass door, to the left is the warmup room, to the right is the stage.
  • There is minimal parking available at Perth College. Please either be dropped off or leave plenty of time to find parking. It will be difficult to find parking as there is no car park available at the school, only street parking. If the weather is inclement, we are not allowed to open the school oval for additional parking so please plan your travel accordingly. Being late because you couldn’t find parking will not be an acceptable excuse.
  • Dress code for performances will be all black attire.
