The WA Youth Orchestra, led by conductor Jen Winley, unleashes the full power of a large symphony orchestra in an evening where music tells unforgettable stories.

At the heart of the program is Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, a vivid portrait of life, love, and resilience in the close‑knit community of Catfish Row. Its soaring melodies and jazz‑infused rhythms capture the spirit of America in music that is both deeply human and endlessly compelling.

Ravel’s enchanting Ma mère l’Oye (Mother Goose) brings fairytales to life through shimmering orchestral colour, while Stravinsky’s thrilling The Firebird crowns the concert with myth, magic, and explosive energy.

From heartfelt community stories to timeless legends, this is orchestral music at its most powerful, imaginative, and moving — told by the next generation of Australia’s finest young musicians.
